Alan Scofield co-founded Young Imaginations in 1987 and has helped create a variety of model arts education projects in Northern California public schools. Alan has touched the lives of a generation of public school children with his programs that involve creative energy, dance and somatic awareness. As an arts educator with Young Imaginations, he opens the way for classroom teachers, teachers in training and parents to experience the joy and wonder of creative expression in movement. As his teaching progressed, he incorporated historical perspectives in many of his teaching residencies, such as the "Dance Through the Decades" program in the Mill Valley Schools, located in Northern California. His dance program for kindergarteners taught in rhyming couplets, movement and storytelling narratives successfully allows children to become focused and engaged with what they are learning. |

“ When we became aware that so many young people wanted to become involved in the arts it seemed so natural and obvious to provide this in the schools as a curricular subject, so we did and it has been a success ever since.” |
